Although an independent, privately-owned company with a separate owner and Board of Directors (as required by the FA WSL license process), Yeovil Town FC has been proud to see the rapid progress of Yeovil Town Ladies over the years, particularly this season where they have enjoyed their first season in the top division in England – FA WSL 1.
Commenting, YTFC Club Chairman John Fry said: “The spirit the Ladies have shown demonstrates their outstanding never say die attitude to be better on and off the pitch, whatever the result of their games.
“In particular, I would like to highlight the efforts of outgoing manager Jamie Sherwood, who led the Ladies’ promotion to the top division.”
In this campaign, the Ladies played five games at Huish Park including an additional fixture as part of the FA WSL Summer Series last April.
Yeovil Ladies’ outings at the home of YTFC represent the most times any EFL or Premier League outfit hosted their FA WSL 1 female counterparts’ games in the club’s main stadium in 2017/18.
Despite this strong support, the Ladies have played several games away from Huish Park due to pitch issues, but Mr Fry revealed plans were imminent to help solve that dilemma.
He said: “Aside from having discussions with the FA and the EFL regarding the possibility of installing a fibre pitch in the future – which would be the long-term solution – we have been working away behind the scenes to secure more stability in staging YTLFC home games in 2018/19.”
All at YTFC wish the Ladies the best of luck in their final game of the season away at Sunderland this weekend.
