Hey everyone! I am hoping I can cheer all you gloomy Yeovil Town fans up this week as let’s face it, it has been a tough one.
Despite my best motivational efforts last week, Joe Edwards did not score and we put on our worst performance of the season up at Port Vale. It has been really tough losing many key players and adjusting to life back in League 1.
We are not alone though, both Doncaster and Barnsley have not started how they would have hoped; expectation does not always equal results.
Every team goes through a tough period and I am confident that we will see this through. Sometimes it can be hard to comprehend when you witness a very poor performance such as Saturday’s, but then you have to look at the big picture.
We dominated a very good Peterborough side, were unlucky to lose at Coventry and have picked up good wins at both Walsall and Bradford. It can affect your whole week and I am sure we have all had a moan at work, but we must pick ourselves up, just as the boys and the coaches have to, and we go again Saturday.
I urge all supporters to get themselves down to Huish Park on Saturday because a big crowd and noisy support can really spur on the team for a much needed three points.
In other news, another international break is coming to an end and in terms of results England could not be much happier. Three wins in qualifying, eight goals scored and none conceded.
How proud were you all when Andros Townsend scored that beauty for England? He learnt to strike a ball like that with us and he is really making a name for himself and will be wearing an England shirt for a long time.
It is nice when club and country come together and I thought the overall performance against San Marino was dominant. Some will argue it should have been, but you can only beat what is put in front of you.
It may have been an indifferent performance against Estonia but a wins a win. Wayne Rooney is constantly under scrutiny at the moment, but I have to admit I respect how he is handling the pressure and his commitment on the pitch is there for all to see.
He may have missed a few chances, but us as YTFC fans know about that and he did clinch the winning goal, it has to beg the question: what would we do without him?
Raheem Sterling has also been in the headlines this week after he was rested from the starting 11 on Sunday and Roy Hodgson claimed he was “tired.” It is a tough one, because the opportunity to play for your country should not be passed up, but at the same time was he thinking of the team and not want to play if he wasn’t feeling 100%? I wonder what the YTFC squad think of it…maybe I will just have to ask Joe Edwards.
He has played through the pain barrier this season and I am sure would not dream of telling Gary he was too tired. However, I still think he is one of our most exciting prospects for the National team and I would always have him in my match day squad, sub or not.
Goal of the week
This week’s goal of the week comes from a former Yeovil Town loanee and took place in League 1. Colchester secured an important win at home to Fleetwood, having gone a goal behind, thanks to two goal hero Gavin Massey. Both finishes are quality, but the winning goal is worthy of winning any football match. Well done Gavin.

I cannot wait to get back to Huish Park on Saturday despite our league position.
It will be interesting to see who starts in goal as Jake Kean has returned to Blackburn Rovers following his loan spell. I’d like to thank Jake for all his efforts and wish him luck for the rest of the campaign.
We will also welcome back familiar faces Andy Williams and Jon Obika with Swindon on Saturday. Obika may be injured but I am sure he will be looking forward to coming back to the club that started his success. As for Andy, I am glad to see him back playing following his nasty injury with us last season, let’s just hope it is not too happy a return for him.
We do not have the best record against Swindon in recent years, but records are made to be broken. They are going well in the league, but on our day we can beat anyone! So get behind the lads and let’s finish this relegation battle before it really begins.
