As this year’s football season gathers momentum, players from Yeovil Town FC have visited Thatchers Cider at Myrtle Farm in Sandford to reveal their new away shirts – which have been specially designed to match the colour of Thatchers Gold cider.
Thatchers Cider has renewed its sponsorship of Yeovil Town for a further three years, and for the first time sees its branding on the back of both the home and away shirts. The Somerset cider maker also has exclusive pouring rights at the football club at Huish Park.
The new away shirts have been manufactured by Sondico, and were given their first official outing when Yeovil played Coventry City at The Ricoh Arena. Other elements of the new away kit include gold shorts and green socks.
The team were all given a tour of the Somerset orchards and watched the apples being harvested then brought to the cider mill for pressing.
“It’s been a really interesting experience to see where the cider comes from,” says Dave Linney, commercial manager of Yeovil Town FC. “We are all used to seeing Thatchers around the ground – and now we can see for ourselves where it comes from and the skill that goes into creating it. We’re really proud to be wearing shirts that reflect that.”
Chris Milton, sales director of Thatchers Cider says, “It’s been great to welcome the players to Myrtle Farm today. We have established a successful relationship with Yeovil Town over recent years, and we’re delighted to be their back of shirt sponsor for the first time. We hope that by visiting us here in Sandford the players will develop a real appreciation of our Somerset heritage.
