The winger, who has scored five goals so far this season, picked up the injury after coming on as a substitute in the 1-1 draw with Notts County on November 21st.
Named as man of the match for the encounter at Huish Park, Browne has missed the last three games due to the injury.
Having been assessed by physiotherapist Mike Micciche, the 22-year-old has been ruled out for at least a month.
The prognosis means the former Grimsby man is likely to miss Town’s busy Christmas period and return in the New Year.
