24th December 2018

Just 53 miles separates the two sides and the Glovers will make the trip across the border to Devon looking to build on two consecutive draws in Sky Bet League Two.

After picking up a point on the road at Cambridge the green and whites had to settle for a 1-1 draw with Northampton in the final home game of 2018 on Saturday.

Yoann Arquin’s stunning equaliser from 35 yards – a goal of the season contender – in the dying embers of the game ensured the hosts avoided defeat.

Now making the trip to St James Park, Darren Way’s side come up against a City side looking for a third straight win.

The Grecians went four games without a win before claiming maximum points from their last two outings.

If Town are to pick up a win at the play-off chasers then they’ll do so without James Bailey (knee), Omar Sowunmi (ankle), Alex Pattison (back), Gabby Rogers (ankle), Wes McDonald (hamstring) and Diallang Jaiyesimi (knee).

Defender Bevis Mugabi (shoulder) could make a return in Devon after missing the last three matches.

Head-to-head
It’s honours even as the two sides prepare to do battle for the 19th time.

With both teams boasting five wins, it’s Town who have enjoyed the better of recent meetings.

Unbeaten in their last seven encounters, the Glovers won 3-1 in December last year thanks to strikes from Jake Gray, Francois Zoko and Sam Surridge.

Officials
Graham Salisbury will take charge of proceedings on Wednesday.

His 20th game of the campaign, it’ll be his first involving the Glovers.

In Devon he’ll be assisted by Ron Ganfield and Ben Cobb with Sam Allison acting as fourth official.
