The Welshman, on loan from Swansea City, began the season in the side but has since had to be patient for game time.
He slotted into defence next to Omar Sowunmi on Tuesday and produced a solid display as the Glovers secured first place in Group D.
“I’ve waited a long time to get another start and I’m just buzzing to get a win and top spot in the group,” Davies told iFollow Glovers.
“The gaffer has been first class, constantly motivating me and telling me I’d get an opportunity. He gave me that an we’ve all done well.”
He continued: “We started off okay and there were one or two things the gaffer wanted to change at half-time which had a massive impact and gave other players free roles.
“Tom James and Otis made a massive difference when they came on and it was good.
“From the first group game against Exeter we all wanted to be top of the group and everyone knows what the rewards can be at the end and that’s where we want to go.
“It’s a massive achievement for all of us (to go unbeaten in the group). We had a game plan in all three of the games, stuck to it and came out on top.”
