Tom Eaves came closest to breaking the deadlock when his header hit the crossbar midway through the second half, but the Glovers couldn’t find a breakthrough in front of the biggest crowd at Huish Park so far this season.
“We probably consider ourselves a little bit unlucky,” Way told YTFC’s official YouTube channel.
“The players showed a real desire and energy – certainly in the second half – against an Exeter side who very rarely got forward.
“The first half was disappointing and we could have done more, and put them under more pressure.
“In the second half you could definitely see we were the dominant force by how many times we got in the final third.
“Overall the players took responsibility to put in a performance and that’s all you can ask for.”
He added: “I thought the crowd made a really good environment which is what i asked for. I think they can go home knowing their team gave everything.”
Town’s final match of 2016 is against Portsmouth at Huish Park on Friday, December 30th (7.45pm).
