With a number of players out of contract in the summer, the Yeovil boss has been given the go-ahead to open negotiations and is hoping for good news in the near future.
“We’ve had discussions this week,” he told YTFC’s official YouTube channel. “It’s good news. Well, not good news but fantastic news. I’ve spoken to one or two key players and it looks very promising.
“What I have got to do next week is make sure those key players are signing on the dotted line.”
With two games of the Sky Bet League Two season remaining and with Town’s EFL status all-but confirmed, Way has held talks with the board regarding building for the 2017/18 campaign.
“We sat down with the board and the board have given the green light (to start talks).
“I have to make the decision that’s right for the football club mainly.
“Supporters have seen some good players at this football club and I’ve got to do my best to make sure that those good players who’ve played the majority of this season and been consistent performers remain at the football club.
“I’ve spoken to one or two key players and the signs are very, very positive and hopefully by next week we’ll have some real good news.”
In the meantime, Town host Stevenage at Huish Park on Saturday (3pm) with juniors able to watch for FREE.
