The 24-year-old was a first-half substitute at the County Ground to pop up with a stoppage time header that secured the green and whites a share of the spoils.

Keeping Neale Marmon’s side outside of the relegation zone, Gafaiti’s first goal for the club proved to be timely. 

Bouncing back from a disappointing first half in Wiltshire where Keshi Anderson’s goal was the difference, the Algerian defender has praised his team-mates’ positive attitude. 

“It’s always good to score, always good to get a point and always good to stay positive,” he told iFollow Glovers. “The main thing was to stay positive even if we conceded a goal, which we did just before half time which I think was stupid from us.

“But we didn’t give up and in the second half everyone was doing good and working, running and no one gave up and thank God we were rewarded with a goal at the end, so I’m really happy with that and really happy for the team.”

Pleased with their approach after the break, Gafaiti continued: “The ball was on the floor and the ball was moving fast. Everyone was getting on the ball and we were able to move the ball from the back and move it forward with quality and this is why we were rewarded at the end.

“We looked better, we feel better and play better when the ball is on the floor; when we pass it and everyone is getting on the ball and passing it. We’ve got to keep doing this.”

Town’s last-gasp equaliser prevented them from falling into the relegation zone for the first time in 2018/19.

Outside of the bottom two on goal difference, Gafaiti spoke of the high belief amongst the players as they face Crawley Town at Huish Park next weekend. 

“The feeling is that we can do it,” he said. “Today (Saturday) was the proof. Last week the first half we played was very positive and the feeling that we have, I know we can do it.

“We will make sure that it happens, so the only thing we have to do is stay positive and work, work, work. That’s the most important thing we can do.

“It’s a must win game. We play at home and every game is a must win. We’ve had six cup finals, we played one and got a point and next week will be another one and we’re going to need three points and we’ll make sure we’re ready for that.”
