After back-to-back wins in January, the Glovers slumped to a six-game losing streak in Sky Bet League Two before recovering to pick up maximum points in their last two outings.

Having slipped towards the relegation zone the green and whites are now six points ahead of the bottom two heading into Friday’s trip to table toppers Lincoln City. 

Traveling to Lincolnshire in buoyant mood, defender James is looking for Town to avoid any other major slumps in form. 

Speaking to iFollow Glovers, he said: “The league we’re in, any team can beat any team and you see that every week, there’s always an upset.

“We’ve got to try and stay as consistent as we can for the rest of the season, pick up points away from home and get wins at home.

Sent off at Cheltenham last month, the 22-year-old missed the remainder of February through suspension before returning in the 3-2 win over Morecambe on Saturday. 

With six goals to his name already this season, the versatile defender is looking to carry on where he left off. 

“The suspension dragged on a lot for me,” he said. “I’ve never been suspended for that long so it was frustrating being on the sidelines for that period but I’m glad to be out there again now.

“All of last season I had so many different free-kicks that went close or the goalkeeper made a save, so I’m really happy they’ve started going in now and I’m hoping to get a few more and a few more in open play.

“There’s a bit of luck involved but I’ve worked a lot on my free-kicks not just last season but in pre-season I honed the technique of what I do.”

Now facing a trip to take on the Imps, James is looking for Town’s encouraging form to continue. 

Coming into the match as underdogs, the Welshman is looking forward to the challenge.

“It’s going to be tough as every game is and of course they’re top of the league and doing well. 

“They’ve been used to winning games week in, week out for two years pretty much so they go into every game confident but now we’ve got a couple of games behind us with wins it’ll be a good test and a good game,” he added.

“With the two results we’ve had it’s taken the pressure off a little bit but we’re not going to take our foot off the gas. No one is expecting us to win this one so if we get something out of it, that’d be perfect going into two big games against teams around us.”
