Yeovil Town have once again gone viral on the internet with a tongue in cheek offer to Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure.
Toure, was reported to be unhappy that Manchester City forgot to celebrate his birthday appropriately and YTFC couldn’t just sit back and watch one of the best midfielders in the world head to the world cup unhappy.
The media team at Huish Park made sure that the Ivorian was given the big celebration he deserved to mark his 31st birthday.
James Healey organised for a cake to be personalised for Yaya before he jets off for Brazil and made sure that social media was aware of the Glovers’ gesture.
If you follow Yeovil on twitter you will have seen the picture get ‘retweeted’ over 1500 times and ‘favourited’ almost a thousand times.
But it wasn’t going to stop there…
Some of the biggest accounts in the UK picked up on the birthday treat and published the Yeovil Town name on their own timelines for all to see.
Bookmakers William Hill and Coral shared the cake picture onto their combined followers of over 350 thousand people!
By the time that the BBC included the offer on their live sports day feed and the Daily Mail included it in their tribute to Yaya’s special day the club’s twitter feed was busier than just about ever before.
In the last hour, the Metro newspaper, betting company TotePool and members of the TalkSport team have all passed on the image meaning that the Glovers’ good wishes have now seen potentially millions of timelines for all over the world.
However, YTFC.net would like to put the record straight and confirm that Toure’s agent hasn’t (yet) been in contact with Yeovil Town and any deal would probably require the midfielder to take a slight pay cut…
As a final note – if anyone knows the favourite cake filling of Demba Ba, who turns 29 on Sunday, could they forward it to jhealey@ytfc.net and we’ll make sure he too isn’t left out on his special day.
