Facing the National League North outfit in the First Round, the green and whites will look to emulate last season’s run to the Fourth Round.

Facing three teams from higher divisions during 2017/18’s competition, Town will this time take on the Hatters who sit two divisions below.

Looking to avoid being on the end of a cup upset, Way is putting emphasis on the approach of his players to get the job done.

“The FA Cup is known for giant-killing so we have to make sure we’re not on the wrong end of that,” he told iFollow Glovers.

“This group is very professional and has a lot of athleticism and we use the pitch really well. Watching the way Stockport play, they’ll come at us in spells – I hope so because it will be an entertaining game then – but it will be down to our quality.

“We played Stockport years ago when Russell Slade was manager and we all know what happened. It can happen, so we’ve got to make sure we remain calm, deal with the pressure of FA Cup – there’s always pressure because of the finances involved – but focus on the job in hand and performance because that’s all you can control.

“If you’ve not got the right mindset that game shows it can go drastically wrong, so I’ll make sure that doesn’t happen with my players on Saturday.”
