The Glovers have just two defeats to their name in all competitions, suffering a 1-0 defeat at Bury with nine-men at the start of August before a repeat scoreline against Championship outfit Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup.
With two draws and two wins in the league since the opening trip to Gigg Lane the Somerset outfit head to Grimsby Town this Saturday (3pm) full of confidence.
Reflecting on a solid start to the campaign, Way told iFollow Glovers: “We’ve played a number of matches now – some very, very difficult games – and I don’t think we’ve deserved to lose any.
“The games that we’ve won, we’ve won on merit. The players are putting in a fantastic effort and the togetherness around the place between the players, supporters and the staff is very, very strong and we want to make sure that remains.
“The players want to work extremely hard and everyone seems to be following suit.”
Town recorded a thumping 4-0 win at Notts County on their last outing away from home.
With back-to-back home matches since then, Town’s boss feels his side don’t have to change their attacking setup on the road.
“I feel we’ve not changed (how we play). That’s probably been the biggest thing this season, the group is strong enough to not change.
“There’s always going to be spells in games where you’ll be in control – good shape and good possession – and then there’ll always be periods of the game where you’re out of control.
“We’ve spoken to players about gaining it back and how you gain it back – it needs good discipline and talking each other up which is why we have good leaders in the team.
“Everyone is doing everything they can which is very, very pleasing as a manager.”
