The green and whites suffered their first defeat in three on Friday night when table-topping Lincoln claimed a 1-0 win at Sincil Bank.
Having made the trip to Lincolnshire off the back of consecutive victories at Huish Park, Mark O’Hara’s goal proved to be the difference as Town remained six points clear of the bottom two.
Despite the defeat, Way told iFollow Glovers he can’t fault his players’ commitment to the cause.
“They’re doing the club proud. They’re giving absolutely everything. They’ve got bundles of energy. I think in the first half, they showed no fear.
“When the goal went in, I think they weren’t as brave and didn’t have as much courage, but that happens. But overall I’d say that will stand that team in good stead.
“I said to the players, certainly for how young the team that we had, the experience would stand that team in good stead. It’s important that I speak to those players in a positive manner.”
Back on the road on Tuesday night, the Glovers head to a Port Vale side who sit just one place and one point above in the Sky Bet League Two table.
With the chance to leapfrog their opponents and pull further away from the relegation zone, Town’s boss feels his side can grow confidence from recent vital wins over Cambridge United and Morecambe.
“We’ve played two massive games previously and they’ve come through that. I’ve no doubt that they’re together in there. Always after a game you have to pick them up.
“With Tom Pope up front it will be another direct game, on a very wide pitch, so we’re going to have to deal with first and second balls.
“It’s a pressurised game, but I think that every game at this level is pressurised. It’s important that the players remain focussed and stay strong and keep believing as well, because they’re good players.
“I’ve enjoyed watching them, although we’ve lost that game. I’ve enjoyed watching my team play.”
