Breaking three limbs and almost losing his life, Way was air-lifted to Dorset County Hospital in Dorchester in December 2008 following a collision which ended the Town legend’s playing career.
Keen to highlight the incredible work undertaken by Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance, the Glovers have donated items of signed merchandise to be raffled off, as well as inviting charity to Huish Park later this season to highlight their service and fundraise towards the £3.5m required each year to retain the service.
Since launching in 2012 the dual-county Air Ambulance has flown more than 12,000 missions – attending up to eight or nine emergencies each day.
With personal experience of the life-saving service, the Town boss discussed his appreciation with the media, which supporters can watch on television on Monday 18th December:
ITV West Country – 6pm
BBC Points West – 6.30pm
Enjoying a tour of the charity’s base and a look around the helicopter, the 38-year-old handed over the club’s merchandise donation before personally thanking the Air Ambulance staff for their continued work.
