The Glovers have so far made 10 summer signings, with two loan spots still available to take the green and whites to the maximum five that can feature in a matchday squad.
With injuries to six first-team players, Way told iFollow Glovers he hopes to bring in new faces ahead of next week’s deadline.
“On Tuesday, perhaps we could’ve done with a bit more firepower up front to take the workload off of Alex Fisher and Diallang Jaiyesimi.
“We’ve got Korrey (Henry) who’s doing really well in training and his opportunity will come, but that’s perhaps an area I’d like to improve on.
“One or two clubs have been contacted but usually with the best players, it’s a waiting game at that level. We have to be patient and hopefully, fingers crossed, we’ll get those deals across the line next week.”
Selling Otis Khan in the summer and pinning down captain Omar Sowunmi to a new two-year deal despite interest from elsewhere, Town have previously been approached regarding the services of defender Tom James.
Quizzed on any possible outgoings, Town’s boss doesn’t want any deadline day drama.
“It’s very hard working to replace a player on the last day so we don’t want to be doing that again.
“Clubs will have to approach us before Friday because otherwise myself and the chairman are off on a fishing trip on deadline day!”
