All goals came from the back as Shaun Donnellan, Enes Mahmutovic, Tom James and an own goal from Tunji Akinola sealed the 4-0 win for the Glovers.
Making six changes to the side that lost 2-1 to Morecambe on Saturday Way was delighted with the positives, particularly the debut of academy product Daniel Ojo.
Speaking to iFollow Glovers he said: “There were so many positives to take from that I don’t really know where to start, Tom James’ free-kick and Ojo at 17 years of age.
“Ojo’s been training with us on a regular basis and he’s had to mark Jordan Green from pre-season so he made it look like it was easy.”
Fastly becoming a set piece specialist Tom James netted his third free-kick of the season, beating the young Hammers keeper with a knuckleballed strike.
Impressed with the technique employed by James, Town’s boss was left stunned by the Welshman’s goal.
“He’s practiced since he’s been at Cardiff, you know what its like for rugby back at Cardiff and he’s almost used that same technique the way he places the ball with the valve but I’ve not seen anything like that at this football club.
“Overall I have to be pleased, 4-0 at home to West Ham, again with a few injuries that we’ve got coming back on Saturday I’m really pleased with that.
“I have to make sure the players remain positive and make sure we manage this game well on Saturday.
“We all know what the FA Cup is like for us as a football club we’re known for the giant killers but it could be the other way round on Saturday.”
