Debutant Omari Patrick came off the bench to clinch all three points for Town, who recorded back-to-back wins and a fourth consecutive cleansheet.
Moving up to fifth in the Sky Bet League Two table, Town’s boss was most happy with his side’s resilience on the road at Blundell Park.
“It was good to come away from home and play like we did, in the manner that we did,” he told iFollow Glovers. “We knew that they would probably tire and we would get that opportunity with the squad that we’ve got at the moment.
“When you build good squads, that’s what good squads do. A good back four, strong and very competitive and a desire to win.
“I thought Gary Warren, and I’ve talked about Gary Warren and about Omar Sowunmi, when you’ve got that base and they’re heading, kicking, blocking and tackling, you can build on that. I was proud to watch that.”
Building on last weekend’s 2-0 win over previously unbeaten Stevenage, Patrick’s solo strike sealed a debut to remember.
Also making his first appearance in green and white since rejoining on loan was Fela Olomola, with Way calling for togetherness to continue.
“With the pace and power that Omari’s got he can be dangerous and that’s exactly what you’ve seen in a short space of time. Fela came on and you could see his touches. He is very confident, so it’s all good.
“It’s important that we keep our feet on the ground, stay humble, keep working hard, keep the togetherness going, keep appreciating our supporters because they’re doing a great job at the moment for the team, and as I’ve said we’re all in this together.”
