Defeat in Hertfordshire was Yeovil’s first in six matches, having picked up 10 points from a possible 12 in the previous four league outings.
However, the Green & Whites found themselves 4-0 down before the hour mark, with Ryan Seager’s late strike only acting as a consolation.
Surrendering their unbeaten run, Darren Way was left disappointed with the performance.
It’s easy to get carried away with the form that we’ve had,” he told iFollow Glovers. “This is almost a reality check. If you come away from home and you don’t put pressure on the opposition and win your headers and your tackles, then that’s what can happen.
“I just didn’t see any urgency in our commitment to win the ball back. You’re up against a team who were under a little bit of pressure.
“The balance of the match hinges on goals. But to concede in the way that we did was disappointing. It didn’t look like my team that was out there, and that was more frustrating.
With the changes that we made, I expected a little bit more. I think that we all have to accept responsibility.”
Yeovil next host Carlisle United in Sky Bet League Two, looking to build on four successive home victories in February.
Looking to exact revenge for a heavy defeat in Cumbria earlier in the season, Way is targeting a good week of preparation.
“We’ll work hard next week. There will be one or two players that need to make sure that they look at themselves, as individuals. Also, we’ve got to look at ourselves as a team.
“I feel that we can’t play as bad as what we played on Saturday if I’ve got to be honest but sometimes we have a bad day at the office and Saturday was certainly one of those days.”
