Strikes from Tom James and Alex Dobre in either half respectively were enough for the Glovers to record a 2-0 win over Notts County and claim consecutive wins for the first time since September. 

Extending the gap over the bottom-placed Magpies to nine points, Town’s victory in the six-pointer eased relegation fears around Huish Park. 

Enjoying an upturn in form, Way told iFollow Glovers: “Two clean sheets. It feels good; that winning feeling. It’s important to realise why the players are playing like they are. I think the hard work never lies. We’ve done that in the last two games.

“The new faces have been great additions to the football club. Josh Grant has been unbelievable at right-back, and Alex Dobre we talked about before the game with the end product, and he finished very well.

“I just felt what with the resilience and organisation and discipline throughout the group, that we were never going to lose that game.”

Saturday’s win was also the first time the green and whites scored two goals in a Sky Bet League Two fixture since the 2-2 draw with Exeter City in October.

Finding more joy in front of goal, Town’s boss was full of praise for his staff members after James converted from an early corner.

“Two members of staff have been having a little bit of pressure from me,” he said.

“We talk about uncomfortable conversations, and they’re normally very productive, and we had a few. So a big well done to Paul (Terry) and Steve (Phillips) because it was well worked. We’ve not scored many.

“But I was more pleased about the performance. I think the supporters could stand there and they could see their team working hard.”
