Toolstream and Screwfix employees squared up in a friendly football game on the evening of Thursday, 7th July. The showdown saw Screwfix claim victory, beating Toolstream 3-2 in a closely-fought game.
Toolstream went 1-0 up thanks to an own goal by Screwfix, then further goals were scored by Chris Wells and Ellis Chubb for Screwfix, and Ben Chislett for Toolstream, making the score 2-2. The winning goal came in the form of a penalty from Screwfix’s Jake Wolfe.
The game was held at Yeovil Town FC, where players of both teams were excited to discover Yeovil Town scouts were holding trials for the U13s. Sadly none of the players made the cut, but were easily cheered by an informal, after-game barbecue, where the players mingled and enjoyed a drink or two.
The evening was a great success and to top it off, £100 was raised for the Screwfix Foundation, which supports projects that organises the repair, maintenance and improvement of properties and community facilities for those in need throughout the UK.
We would like to thank Yeovil Town FC for the loan of their training pitch and hope to repeat the challenge soon!
