8th January 2015

It’s 2015. A whole two weeks since my last blog. I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas and New Year…I did and I have a feeling 2015 is going to be one of the best years yet.

For a start, we are going to stay in League One for another season and you can quote me on that.

Also, we have played one game in 2015 and that was against a small team we have all heard of once or twice. Manchester United.

I can honestly say that day was up there with the second leg of the 2013 Play-offs against Sheffield United. There is nothing better than a full Huish Park, the atmosphere was as incredible as the match. So, if you are reading this having attended the FA Cup 3rd round match, I urge you to make it a more regular thing!.

The club have some great deals on and the lads need and deserve all the support they can get.

I thought we played fantastically on Sunday. I could not fault any player and it was only fitting that each and every one of them got man of the match. However, the ones that really stood out for me were Ben Nugent, Kevin Dawson and you guessed it…Joe Edwards.

Radamel Falcao was no match for Nugent, Dawson was at the heart of every attack and Edwards was a true captain who was not afraid to slide in on Rooney.

It is a huge compliment to our side that they fielded such a strong team and had to bring on Di Maria, Mata and Jonny Evans to settle the match. I was so gutted when we conceded, but what a finish it was. That is the difference between the top teams and the lower leagues. That was the only difference though and we matched them throughout.

Kieffer Moore’s miss will haunt us for a while but as long as he saves the rest for the league, we will all be happy. In my eyes, it is simple – we play like that for the rest of the season, we stay up!.

As for the other players, both Ryan Innis and Tom Eaves have completed their stay at Huish Park, they have been great additions and I am sure they will do well in their careers. Good luck to them from all YTFC fans.

I am so excited that the Manchester United game shirts are going on auction, I bet you can’t guess which one I want?! Fingers crossed.

After all that excitement we move on to a huge game away at Barnsley on Saturday, three points are much needed and after the buzz of Sunday, there is no reason we cannot use that momentum and push on up the league. Never have I believed more that we will get out of this predicament. I can’t wait to see you all there…wrap up warm and keep believing.

I will be writing again next week about all things football with a goal of the week from the whole weekend of English football.

For this week, however, let’s relive the FA Cup game that so nearly had a fairytale ending. Let’s applaud Di Maria’s class and remember just how proud our club made us on the 4th January 2015. This is why football is so amazing; no one can take away those memories.
