Ever since Saturday, I have been thinking about how tough this beginning part of my blog will be to write.
I am hopefully known as one of the most positive Yeovil Town fans, but Saturday’s performance against Rochdale was really tough to watch.
We really did not get going and our response to going behind was not what I would expect from us! We usually fight a lot more, but it just was not happening and I felt disappointed that we gave Rochdale the three points so easily.
If there was any doubt before it is now extremely clear that we are in a tough relegation battle. We have been here many times and every time we have turned it around. We have to believe that this season will be no different.
There may be some personnel changes, as we look to strengthen our squad, but rest assured those lads need our support.
I am sure Saturday’s lacklustre display was a one off and the battle will commence against Chesterfield this weekend. I just want to mention both Sam Foley and Kevin Dawson who I thought were outstanding on Saturday, their work rate was phenomenal and I was proud that they pulled on a green and white shirt, long may they continue to wear it.
On a happier note and moving on to all things football around the country…I went to watch MK Dons vs Sheffield United in the Capital One Cup last night. It was not the most exciting game, but two late goals from United sealed a win for them when the Dons had looked comfortable when 1-0 up.
Football can be so cruel, but when the Blades introduced Jose Baxter to the field, the game changed, as the number 11 was influential and controlled the midfield allowing them to create chances, which they had struggled to do all evening.
Liverpool also came from behind to beat Swansea City, with Mario Balotelli scoring his first goal for the club. Did anyone see his tweet? Just a simple “Finally”, brilliant.
After all the stick he gets it is nice to see he has a sense of humour. Maybe this will get him up and running in the league now? As for last weekend there were some incredible results! Manchester City lost 2-1 to West Ham, whilst Birmingham City got absolutely hammered at home to Bournemouth 8-0 (see, it can always be worse YTFC fans.)
Chelsea still look unstoppable to me and Manchester United will be pleased that they gained a point at home to the leaders. Drogba is playing really well following his return to the club and with so many injuries in the squad he really is stepping up. I am still convinced they could stay unbeaten all season; I may have to put some money on it.
Goal of the Week
Another tough decision to make, but I have chosen one from League One this week! Bristol City are flying at the moment and they managed to keep their unbeaten record intact as they drew 2 – 2 with Barnsley. I am not choosing Luke Ayling’s goal, but there is an opportunity to watch the clinical finisher’s header. Aaron Wilbraham rescued a point with a great finish.

Congratulations to Luke as well, it didn’t take him as long to open his account at City, but THAT finish against Birmingham City will always be in his and our hearts.
So, next up we travel to Chesterfield for another tough game in League One! They all look tough on paper now we are down the bottom, but it is all about the performance on the day and it is amazing what one win can do in football! So, once again I am my positive green and white self willing the boys on to three points and to get out of this predicament.
Keep believing everyone, no matter how hard it can be sometimes, we are Yeovil True through and through whether we’re up or down!
