Rehearsals are well under way for THE GIANTS, a new play inspired by Yeovil Town Football Club.
Jack Kelly and Molly Taylor play Warren and Emily, a couple whose relationship is tied to the fortunes of Real West Coker, the team they manage in the Yeovil & Districts Under 12’s league.
At the same time Jack and Molly play a whole host of other characters including teenager Rachel and her brother Mike; Radio South-West’s long serving commentators Barry and John as well as the entire Real West Coker team and a couple of surprise characters from Yeovil Town FC itself!
The show is suitable for ages 10+ and will be a real family affair. It serves as a reminder how important a football club’s fans are to its success and how through thick or thin, you can still reach for the stars.
THE GIANTS opens at The David Hall Arts Centre on 21 January before visiting The Alec Stock Lounge at Huish Park on 22 January.
From there it tours to Yeovil College (28 Jan), West Coker Village Hall (31 Jan), The Brewhouse Theatre (7 Feb) and schools in Somerset as well as The Marine Theatre (24 Jan) and Lighthouse, Poole’s Centre for the Arts (30 Jan) in Dorset.
Full tour information is available via www.wassailtheatre.co.uk.
Supported by Arts Council England, Take Art and South Somerset District Council, THE GIANTS is a play about going for three points, striving for your dreams and what happens when the reality of life scores a last minute winner.
