Defeat at the hands of Newport County on Good Friday left Town hovering above the bottom two with their points buffer reduced to four.
The Glovers destiny remains firmly in their own hands with four games remaining, starting with the visit of Crewe Alexandra on Easter Monday.
However, after defeat in Wales, stalwart Smith is calling for togetherness from all associated with the Green and Whites.
“We didn’t do what we needed to do (against Newport)”, Smith told YTFC.net.
“The gaffer has explained what we need to do, and we’ve got to stay together and get the job done.
“I understand, and the boys all understand that the fans will be disappointed, but we know what we’ve got to do to make it right and that’s what we’re going out to do.”
Smith made his 250th Town appearance against County, but admits defeat took the shine off the individual achievement.
With a vital three points targeted against the Railwaymen, the Yeovil ever-present is aware of what needs to be done.
“We go again. We know what the situation is for us – I’ve got a responsibility so that’s what I’m going to go out and do.
“We know we’ve been in a battle for a little while, so it’s not just Monday it’s the whole rest of the season where we need to do what we need to do.”
