If selected for the fixture at Rodney Parade on Good Friday (3pm), the 30-year-old will make his 250th appearance for the Glovers over two spells.
The defender is proud of potentially achieving such a milestone but says he is focused on securing a victory in South Wales.
Smith told YTFC.net: “It’ll be a nice situation to happen (250 apps) and hopefully it does. It doesn’t really seem that long ago (since I made my debut).
“From the first time I was here to now, there have been a lot of characters and the people I’ve met have been interesting.
“It feels surreal when people say I’m one of the experienced ones in the changing room because I didn’t have any experience (when I came here).
“However, there’s nothing else in my mind other than going to Newport and getting a win.
“The result is the most important thing – 100%. We just want to get the best results we can out of the last five games and it’ll be down to hard work.
“We know what we need to do as a team and if we can get that job done, it’ll be the icing on the cake.”
