We are delighted to announce that Ollie Wright has joined from Southampton on a season-long loan.

The 21-year-old keeper arrives at Huish Park after the Glovers successfully fended off interest from several other National League sides.

Wright joined Southampton over a decade ago in the Under-10s and has since progressed to the Under-21s, earning a PL2 Player of the Month nomination in January 2022. A key player in the 2022/23 Premier League 2 Division 2 title-winning team, he made 15 appearances for the Young Saints and regularly trained with the first team, joining them for a mid-season training camp and travelling with the matchday squads.

For the 2023/24 season, Ollie secured his first senior loan at Bath City in the National League South before moving to Worthing FC for the second half of the season where he pushed them towards a strong finish and within touching distance of promotion to the National League.

Mark Cooper expressed his delight at securing Wright’s services, stating, “The process to finalise the deal was rigorous and required numerous presentations and conversations against other National League and Football League clubs to bring him here. Ollie has a commanding presence and made a strong impression when we faced him last season against Worthing.”
