We are delighted to announce that Matt Gould has joined Yeovil Town on a two-year deal from Altrincham.
The 30-year-old player/ goalkeeper coach arrives at Huish Park from Altrincham.
Despite being born in Warwick, Gould started his career with Hawke’s Bay United in the New Zealand Football Championship before signing with Cheltenham Town in EFL League Two at the start of the 2014/1 season. Following a loan spell with Bishop’s Cleeve, he joined Livingston. In 2016, after loan stints with Stenhousemuir and Stourbridge, Gould made his move to Stourbridge permanent.
At Stourbridge, Gould helped the team reach the third round of the FA Cup by defeating Northampton Town, who were four divisions higher at the time. They lost 2–1 to Wycombe Wanderers in the next round. Gould made 138 appearances for Stourbridge before leaving in 2018 for Spennymoor Town.
Gould signed with Altrincham ahead of the 2020/21 season after making 87 appearances at Spennymoor Town. In 2021, he was loaned to Nantwich Town for three months. On 23 May 2022, Gould extended his contract with Altrincham, taking on a dual role as a player and first-team goalkeeper coach after completing his UEFA qualifications.
