A trip to Elland Road is never going to be easy and so it proved as the all white’s ran out 2-0 winners. Although the scoreline indicated an easy victory it was anything but easy for Leeds as Yeovil battled away in the first for no tangible reward.
Two goals for Ross McCormack sealed things for the home side but it was an encouraging display from Yeovil who certainly looked as though they were getting the hang of Championship football.
With the next home match against Wigan being switched to a Sunday the match gave the club to honour their team of the decade who all turned up to be presented to the crowd before kick off.
Wigan nicked all the points with a controversial goal from Marc Antoine Fortune after Grant Holt had seemingly controlled the ball with his hand before crossing for the big Frenchman to score.
But it had been another indication, that despite the score line, the Glovers were coming to terms with their new division.
Two away trips were to follow with a Friday night trip to Doncaster’s Keep Moat Stadium up first. Furman put Donny in front as the 11th. minute when Manchester United loanee Macheda squared for Furman to score easily.
Yeovil hit back just before half time when Byron Webster smashed home from close range but a late goal from Mark Duffy snatched all the points for the Yorkshiremen and yet another long return home empty handed.
The last month in the month saw manager Gary Johnson return to his old haunts with a trip to Vicarage Road, Watford.
With new loan striker Ishmael Miller just signed from Forest Yeovil produced a great result against the high flying Londoners that ultimately saw their manager Gianfranco Zola sacked.
Other new loanee John Lundstram also started along with Adam Morgan for one of his rare starts.
After a competent first half display The Glovers went in front with a goal from Byron Webster on the stroke of half time.
With Lundstram controlling things from the midfield and a focal point like Miller to aim for Yeovil kicked on and Miller made it 2-0 in the 53rd. minute.
An inch perfect pass from Lundstram found a rampaging Joe Edwards and he slotted past Bond in the Watford goal to make it 3-0 and a triumphant return for the manager to his old club.
A great way to end the month.
