Yeovil Town manager Darren Sarll hopes that his side’s second National League win of the season in midweek can give his side a lift as they host Torquay United on Saturday afternoon.
A brace from Courtney Duffus, and a late strike from Albi Skendi ensured that the Glovers secured an important home win against Aldershot Town on Monday and Sarll hopes it gives the team huge confidence going into Saturday’s clash at Huish Park as they face the league’s early pacesetters.
After the disappointment of their defeat against Torquay United on Boxing Day, the green & whites will be looking to prove themselves this time around, producing a much better performance against the side from Plainmoor.
Speaking during his pre-match press conference, he said: “We responded well from that horror show last week against Torquay with a good result on Monday.
“We responded the way the group should have respond. I always back my group because they are a brilliant bunch and I love spending time with them.
“This team are an incredibly proud group and I said that to the players on Monday. The one thing that the defeat on Boxing Day dented apart from the result was our pride but it was great to restore that this week, and it will give us a lot of confidence going into Saturday
“I thought we played alright on Monday and there’s so much more we can do but until we get that consistency with injuries, especially with the back four then sadly we are going to see more inconsistency in our performances.”
He continued: “Naturally, you’ll want revenge from what happened last week because we’re all footballers who care about their football and their work, so hopefully we can prove ourselves this time around and consolidate a much better result this weekend.
“We were very disappointed with ourselves last Saturday and that was the underlying figure on Sunday. We had a brief chat amongst the squad and reflected on the performance, which resulted in us having a really good look at ourselves.
“On a whole, I thought we responded well and showed a much more committed performance. Monday proved to us all that we still have that quality and performance in our locker, so hopefully, we can take that momentum if you like into Saturday.”
