Yeovil Town kick off their FA Cup campaign on Saturday (3pm) with a trip to North London to face Haringey Borough.
Sarll couldn’t hide his admiration for the competition steeped in history, when speaking to YTTV he said:
“I very much enjoy the FA Cup, like everyone does. It’s part of the culture of this country, it is a really special competition.”
“I’ve been very fortunate, I’ve had some really good days in it, but I’ve also had a hiding from teams that shouldn’t beat my teams!”
“Every team goes through that, and that is what drives the love affair we all have with the competition.”
“For Yeovil, it’s important for numerous reasons, the most important thing is we keep winning games, and keep that positive ratio we have at the moment.”
Haringey have a great recent history in the competition. The hosts enjoyed a brilliant run last season, facing AFC Wimbledon live on the BBC, narrowly losing 0-1 at Coles Park Stadium.
“Last year they had a great run, especially with the tie that they had (AFC Wimbledon). Really good luck to them, I’m an ex non-league player so I know exactly what it feels like.”
“I’ve managed lots of FA Cup games too where my team has been the underdog. We’ll just go and try and play really well. We need to take care of the task at hand and be very professional, as the squad has always been since I came in.”
“It’s more important to me that we just carry on winning more than we lose.”
