With Huish Park given the opportunity to host one of the final test events ahead of new restrictions, Darren Sarll savoured every moment with Yeovil supporters at Huish Park on Tuesday evening.
“It was brilliant, absolutely brilliant. It was nice to have somebody to talk to again!
“I like talking to the fans behind me during the games, otherwise I’ve got to talk to Terry (Skiverton) all the time. It was nice to have that interaction again.
“I thought it was a really good touch from Carl Dickinson, who was captain on the night, he took all the players round everyone who came and applauded them for their attendance, that was a really nice gesture from him and it was very sincere and appreciative of them, coming out and supporting us on that one off evening.”
Tuesday also saw Town secure the signature of Ryan Burke, a 19-year old left back who signs on loan until January 2021, somebody who the gaffer feels can make a real impact during his spell in Somerset.
“We looked at the model we had last year, and Birmingham were brilliant for us as we were for them, we took Remeao (Hutton) in good faith and I think he played more minutes than any other defender last season.
“With Remeao working with Craig Alcock last year, I’ve now looked at Ryan working with Carl (Dickinson) and thought it would be a good fit. He’s already played in the Championship, he’s got good technical ability, strong but not huge, very athletic and a lovely kid.
“He’s from the Republic of Ireland, somewhere I have a strong background in bringing players over to England from so it’s an area I know well, and they produce some really good players and even tougher competitors.
“He’ll be a brilliant addition to us most importantly as the congestion of games is just going to be very tough and it gives us that athletic version of Carl in the most respectful way possible.
“He’s a brilliant addition and we’ll see a lot of him Saturday (vs. AFC Bournemouth).”
