Everyone at Yeovil Town Football Club are saddened to learn about the passing of former Manager, Barry Lloyd.
Lloyd began his managerial career at Southern League Premier Division side Yeovil Town in August 1978. In his first season, he guided the club to a respectable mid-table finish and secured the Somerset Premier Cup, a notable achievement for the club.
The Glovers were later transferred to the newly formed Alliance Premier League for the 1979–80 season, where Lloyd’s tenure became more challenging. Despite showing promise, inconsistent league performances led to his departure in January 1981.
Lloyd’s time at Yeovil laid the groundwork for a long career in football management, with later stints at clubs like Brighton & Hove Albion. His contribution to lower-league football, particularly at Yeovil, is remembered fondly by supporters and colleagues alike.
