Yeovil Town fell to a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Oldham Athletic in the final fixture at Huish Park this campaign.
The Glovers never really got going in another timid performance from the already relegated side.
An early strike followed by two in the second half were enough for the visitors, who sent the travelling Latics fans back to the North West with a smile on their face.
It didn’t take long for Oldham to stamp their authority on the game and the scoreline. Jamie Reckord switched off at the back post and Devarn Green was waiting to fire home the opener with just eight minutes on the clock.
In terms of attacking play, Yeovil offered very little, with the majority of efforts coming from distance.
If the Glovers were to do anything, Charlie Cooper seemed the most likely source. His s free-kick with 33 minutes played was played dangerously across the box, but there was nobody waiting to poke home.
Minutes later, C.Cooper was involved again from a dead-ball, this time going for goal, but he could only find the away terrace.
The second half saw Mark Cooper make a change, Reckord was sacrificed with Max Hunt coming on in his place, this then shifted Miguel Freckleton to left-back.
In truth, this changed very little as Oldham continued to ease their way through the game.
With 74 minutes played, substitute Mike Fondop added a second for the visitors. After the Green & Whites’ defence was carved open, the forward was found unmarked to poke the ball home beyond Smith.
With moments left, Fondop had his second of the afternoon. A quick free-kick caught the Yeovil defence off guard as he slammed home the final goal of the afternoon.
3-0 was how it finished, in what was a drab end to a disappointing season at Huish Park. Yeovil do have one fixture left on the road, with a trip to Boreham Wood next weekend.
