Yeovil Town’s pre season ended with a 1-0 win against Weston-Super-Mare thanks to a penalty converted by Alex Fisher.
Chris Hargreaves opted to change his side once again with Tom Knowles and Matt Worthington returning to the side after both missing out for the trip to Dorchester. New signing Ben Richards-Everton would also make his debut after signing on a one-year deal following his release from Barnet.
Yeovil started the brighter of the two sides and were rewarded on the ten minute mark when Alex Fisher converted a penalty won by Jamie Reckord who had seen a lot of the ball in the opening stages.
Malachi Linton who caused problems throughout the game was slid through into the right hand channel by Josh Staunton but his effort was well stopped.
The Seagulls grew into the game and created their first chance after some good football down the right hand side, before ex Glover Reuben Reid put his effort straight down Grant Smith’s throat.
They continued to threaten and almost equalised when it was put on a plate for Dayle Grubb whose effort once again was straight at Smith.
Yeovil started the second half just as they did the first; on top. With the ball falling for Reckord who saw his shot blocked.
The crowd then thought the away side had made it two when Linton once again worked some room for his self, but his effort would only find the side netting not the back of the net.
Tom Knowles, who didn’t see much of the ball throughout, created a great opportunity when he slid through a ball to Trialist A whose cross was almost turned in but to no avail.
In a second half that lacked any real chances, Weston did almost equalise after a nice cross in from the free kick found a head but the flick on would go just over.
Credit to the Seagulls who played some nice football today and gave a great account of themselves.
Next up is the first game of our National League season, away at Scunthorpe for a 17:20 kick off.
