2nd August 2014
Yeovil Town continued their pre-season preperations with a 2-1 win at Truro City.
Goals in the first half from Simon Gillet and Keiffer Moore sandwiched an Issac Vassell goal to secure the win for Town.
Town opened the scoring on 20 minutes when Gillett picked up the ball on the edge of the area and shot low and hard to the keepers right.
Just moments later Town nearly doubled their lead when Martin’s header was well cleared off the line by Truro skipper Dan Green.
Seconds later the hosts levelled the scores when Vassell got on the end of a cross to stab the ball home, leaving Martin wrong footed on the goal line.
Town retook the advantage just after the half hour mark. Former Truro striker Moore got his head on the ball two yards from goal to bundle the ball past Searle in the Truro goal.
The Glovers thought they had made it 3-1 with ten minutes if the first half remaining. Moore rose highest to head the ball at goal, only for the bar to deny him. The ball fell to the feet of Ajay Leitch-Smith but as he put the ball in the net the referee’s assistant raised his flag.
Town were forced into a substitution ten minutes into the second half when Kevin Dawson hobbled off to be replaced by James Berrett.
On 65 minutes Foley broke into the Truro only to be fouled by Farkin. Leitch-smith placed the ball on the spot and drilled the ball hard and low down the middle, only for sub goalkeeper Kyle Moore to save his effort with his feet.
Town now look forward to the start of the Sky Bet League one season with their first game against Doncaster Rovers.
