Ten man Town fell to a 1-0 defeat on the road at the hands of Southend United in National League action.
After Gime Touré received his marching orders in the first half, Southend struck ahead through Jake Hyde.
Despite a forward thinking second half, it wasn’t enough for Yeovil who fell to a defeat on the Essex coast.
Chris Hargreaves made one enforced change, Jamie Reckord dropped out the side due to a knee infection and was replaced by Owen Bevan who had returned from international duty.
Looking to make their mark on the game in the opening stages, it took less than two minutes for Yeovil to fashion an opening. Alex Fisher did excellently to find Charlie Wakefield who cut inside and and fired a whisker wide of the post from the edge of the box.
However, this attacking intent was quickly damped as Touré received a straight red card with just over 15 minutes played, leaving Fisher isolated up top.
Following the red card, Southend began to enjoy a lot of the ball. The hosts pressed forward and went closest through Dackers.
Against the run of play, Yeovil had the ball in the net through Josh Staunton on 33 minutes, but the goal was harshly ruled out by the referee.
Minutes later, the Glovers were dealt a sucker punch as Jake Hyde opened the scoring for the hosts.
When the break came, the Yeovil players would have been forgiven for feeling a little relieved, taking the opportunity to regroup.
Looking for a route back into the game, Fisher won the a free-kick on the edge of the box in the opening stages of the half, but he fired over.
Hargreaves had clearly encouraged his side to push forward more in the second half, but clear-cut openings were few and far between.
Substitute Fin Craske went close with less than 20 minutes to go as he spotted the Southend goalkeeper off his line.
In the closing stages, Southend got a strong foothold onto the game, effectively managing Yeovil Town’s threat up front.
A frustrating afternoon for the Glovers who sit in 19th place in the National League.
