Yeovil Town are back in Sky Bet League One action this Saturday as the Glovers host Scunthorpe United with a 3pm kick off.

Yeovil got their season up and running this past Tuesday night and with the confidence that three points brings in the bag brings are looking forward to another fixture in front of the Huish Park faithful.

Scunthorpe travel to Somerset sitting rock bottom of the table having failed to pick up a single point yet this season.

The 2-1 win at Walsall sent the Glovers up to 19th and just three points off the play-offs!

The fact that a single victory is all that separates 19th and 6th suggests that any side able to string a run together could put themselves into a very good position as the calendar ticks towards a number of a busy months in the build up to Christmas.

So far, Scunthorpe have had their success in the League Cup taking the scalp of Championship Blackburn Rovers in the first round.

They earned a second round tie against Reading this coming Tuesday. The league form tells a different story however; they’ve lost 2-0 to Fleetwood, 4-0 to Preston and 3-1 to Swindon so far. Nine goals conceded and just the one scored. That solitary goal was scored by… you know who…Paddy Madden.

Paddy Madden left Yeovil last season after firing the Glovers to their highest league finish and of course that famous Wembley victory.

However, he found goals hard to come by in the Championship and Scunthorpe snapped up the Ireland international in the January transfer window of 2014.

Since then, Paddy helped the Iron to promotion from League Two and now the striker faces his old employers with his new side.

With goal shy Scunthorpe needing to raise their game in attack, they have moved to secure Billy Kee from Burton Albion, the former Torquay man is in to replace top scorer Sam Winnall. Another new signing is Nicky Featherstone who has joined on a rolling deal.

Yeovil manager, Gary Johnson has admitted that he is also in the market for a new player or two this week as the fitness of Liam Davis, Joel Grant and James Berrett continues to be a problem.

All three could be missing for a few weeks more and Yeovil could only name six out of a possible seven substitutes on Tuesday.

The Injury list at Scunthorpe makes slightly better reading for their fans, only goalkeeper, Sam Slocombe has been ruled out for a few weeks and so the Iron have moved to secure Bobby Olejink on loan from Peterborough.

The last time these two sides met was in the Glovers promotion season of 2012/13, which would see the Glanford Park side head down into League Two and Yeovil went up into the second tier.

Two Yeovil wins that season, both convincing, too. 4-0 at Glanford Park and 3-0 at Huish Park.

Keanu Marsh Brown, Reuben Reid and Gozie Ugwu shared the goals in the away leg while Byron Webster, James Hayter settled the match at Huish Park… of course, Paddy Madden wouldn’t miss out, he scored a 90th minute goal of his own.

Prior to that season, meetings between the two sides haven’t always gone the Glovers’ way.

One draw in 2012 is all the Yeovil fans can draw on as going back to 2005 the six meetings have all gone Scunthorpe’s way.

But with the most recent form all in Yeovil’s favour supporters will hope that the long journey made by Scunthorpe will all be in vein as the Glovers send them back up the country with nothing more than a dirty kit.
