27th December 2015

Yeovil Town are back in Sky Bet League Two action this coming Monday when the Glovers host Oxford United kicking off at 3pm.

The game takes place just 48 hours after the last set of fixtures and so changes for both sides could well be expected.

Yeovil travelled to top of the table Plymouth Argyle and despite and energetic performance full of effort and vigour came out on the wrong side of a 1-0 defeat.

Ryan Brunt pounced on a parried shot after Chris Weale found the initial effort too hot to handle.

Oxford also faced a side from the south-west but with much more success.

The U’s hosted Exeter City and came through with a 3-0 win.

The opening scorer was none other than former Glovers loanee John Lundstram.

Like Darren Way at Huish Park, gaffer Michael Appleton has suggested that his whole squad will be given match time over the festive period and that could mean changes to the line up coming into this game.

One change may be up front as Chris Maguire limped off during the 2nd half against Exeter and may not be risked with the quick turnaround.

Oxford have a chance to cement second place in SkyBet League Two and Yeovil are still within touching distance of the safety zone above the dotted line.

It’s still festive season at Huish Park and you can be there to support the team.

Bring the family and enjoy the seasonal soccer at Huish Park this Monday 28th December.

Last time we met

Yeovil Town and Oxford United played each other just a few weeks ago in the Southern Area Semi Final of the Johnstones Paint Trophy.

In a cracker of a fixture, the Glovers twice came from behind but fell short in the end losing out 3-2 despite goals from Wes Fogden and Shaun Jeffers.

Prior to that, the league meeting between the sides in August was a tale of two teams heading in different directions.

Danny Hylton and Callum O’Dowda scored to confirm the class between an unbeaten Oxford and a struggling Yeovil.

In total, Yeovil have come out on the wrong side of the result the last four times, the last Yeovil win was a 6-1 thrashing back in 2003 – Andrejs Stolcers among the scorers that day.
