Yeovil Town are back in SkyBet League Two action for the final time this coming Saturday when the Glovers host Leyton Orient on the final day of the season.
The Glovers are safe from the drop and a win for the home side could see them finish at as high has 16th, depending on results of the Notts County and Hartlepool fixtures.
Darren Way’s side have enjoyed a second half to the season which has seen them rocket from the foot of the entire Football League to safety and into the mid table mix up.
Opponents Leyton Orient lie in 9th place but despite being so close to the play-off spots, there are six points between them and 7th place Wimbledon meaning their season won’t be extended beyond this Saturday.
Yeovil have been safe for a few weeks now but that hasn’t seen the players take their foot off the pedal in the leagues.
Last Saturday the Glovers won an epic seven-goal thriller against Barnet with a last gasp Harry Cornick goal.
The 4-3 win (from a 3-1 losing position), was backed up with commendable draws against Wycombe and Champions, Northampton Town.
Last Saturday saw Yeovil only name six substitutes from a possible seven, but that should be back to a full contingent for this weekend.
Defenders Jakub Sokolik and Darren Ward are both ruled out but Omar Sowunmi completed 60 minutes in a behind closed doors game and with the game being at home, the ease at which calling up one of the youth teamers should mean the Glovers have a bench full of exciting options.
As with the other recent squads, one of the six loanees will have to sit the game out, Brandon Goodship missed out last week and will be hoping for a recall.
As for the visitors, they will be missing one of their key stars in Dean Cox who has been out for some time with a knee injury.
They do of course have Kevin Nolan on their books too, but the former Premier League star hasn’t been seen on the pitch since the start of April.
The ex West Ham midfielder was originally named as Player-Manager before being relieved of that second job title three games ago.
The O’s gave two young players their debuts recently; Aron Pollock and Sandro Semedo both could be involved again this weekend.
The final game of the season brings with it certain rituals at Huish Park. Be sure to stay in the ground at the end of the game as the players will be doing a lap of appreciation to say ‘thanks’ to all the supporters and the end of season awards will be handed out after the game too.
There will be numerous Player of The Season gongs from different supporters groups, as well as top scorer trophy which is currently a tie between Francois Zoko and Ryan Bird who have eight each.
So come on down to Huish Park one final time this season and send the players off into summer on a high with hopes for a positive 2016/17 campaign.
Last time we met
Earlier this season, the two sides met at the start of Darren Way’s stint in charge of the Glovers.
The early good form continued at the Matchroom Stadium with a 1-1 draw. Francois Zoko scored for Yeovil with Jobi McAnuff rescuing a point late in the second half.
With both sides dropping out of League One last season, the sides crossed paths twice.
In both games, Orient came out on top by a whopping 3-0 score line.
Only Nathan Smith and Josh Sheehan have survived from the starting line up in the last fixture – although Artur Krysiak was named among the substitutes for both games with loanee ‘Keepers Jed Steer and Scott Loach brought is as Number One.
The last time Yeovil won over the Orient was an FA Cup game the season before, the third round tie in the Championship season saw goals from Joel Grant, Kieffer Moore and James Hayter (2) secure progression with a thumping 4-0 win.
