Yeovil Town are in SkyBet Championship action this Tuesday night, as Watford visit Huish Park in a rearranged fixture.

Originally this match was planned for New Year’s Day, but despite ground staff’s best efforts to clear the pitch the sheer amount of water on pitch forced the referee to abandon all hope of the game going ahead.

With Sky Sports’ cameras in town, the game was a huge loss to the home side both in terms of a congested fixture list and financially.

Since the original fixture date, Watford have cemented their place comfortably in mid table.

In the seven league games, they’ve won three – their last three – and secured draws away at Bournemouth and Leicester.

This recent run of form have put the Hornets within nine points of the play offs.

Yeovil, on the other hand, remain stuck at the foot of the table.

On Saturday, a number of sides in the Championship did play, including Yeovil’s immediate rivals at the bottom of the table.

In the end, draws for Millwall, Doncaster and Barnsley all did relatively little damage to the Glovers’ position, even if it did leave the Somerset side seven points from safety.

Yeovil didn’t have a fixture at the weekend giving them a few days extra rest as Watford did play, a 1-0 win against Middlesbrough.

The last time these sides met, back in November, it was possibly one of the best days in Yeovil’s season as Ishmael Miller, Byron Webster and Joe Edwards all scored in a brilliant 3-0 win at Vicarage Road. Since then, it’s all change at Watford, there’s a new manager and a number of a new players.

Beppe Sannino took over after Gianfranco Zola departed and he brought in a number of new players including Park Chu-Young from Arsenal and Samba Diakite from QPR on transfer deadline day.

One of those new men won’t be available for selection this Tuesday. Samba Diakite was shown a second half red card on Saturday and will be suspended.

Elsewhere, defender Tommy Hoban made his first appearance for Watford in over a year on Saturday and could make his first start on return from injury in Tuesday’s fixture.

For Yeovil, the injury list is potentially getting shorter as Liam Davis and Sam Hoskins edge closer to a return to the match day squad following injuries.

This fixture has been rearranged as a result of waterlogging and currently, Somerset as a whole is suffering from one of the worst floods in memory.

As such, Yeovil Town have announced that there will be a bucket collection at the game to help the Somerset Flood Relief Fund.

Any spare change you may have will be gratefully received to help aid those affected by flood damage.

Much of the county is still struggling with some travel issues, so again, those who can make it do so with the clubs’ huge thanks. Please make sure you allow extra time and plan your travel accordingly.

Tickets for Tuesday night’s fixture are available right up until kick off and your support is needed to help Yeovil get the most out of one of their games in hand over those around them.

With Barnsley also in action against high flying Derby, a win at Huish Park could do the Glovers the world of good ahead of Saturday’s crunch clash with Doncaster.

If you can’t make it to Huish Park listen in to Glovers Player, stay in touch with the clubs’ social networks and get behind the side however you can.
