Yeovil Town are back in SkyBet League One action this Tuesday night as the Glovers travel to Walsall.
It’s a full card of midweek fixtures so all the football league clubs get another chance to add three points to their tally.
Yeovil currently sit 23rd in SkyBet League One after two defeats while Walsall are in 16th having notched up two draws. So, both teams will be looking for their first league win of the campaign.
Yeovil have some other aims too, they are still looking for their first league goal. The only team in the division yet to get off the mark. The Saddlers are similarly goal-shy, they’ve only scored one league goal themselves.
Walsall are coming off the back of a 0-0 on Saturday when they hosted, and held Bradford City to a stalemate. Yeovil of course are still reeling from back-to-back defeats to Gillingham, once in the League and once in the Capital One Cup.
Gary Johnson has promised that the side are working as hard as ever to put the mini slump in form behind them and get the season off and running.
In terms of team selection, the Glovers are boasting a virtually clean bill of health with only Joel Grant now on the treatment table.
Elsewhere, three negative results in a row may have their own knock on effects to team selection, but the gaffer likes to keep his cards close to his chest on such matters.
One man who will be missing is full back Seth Nana Twumasi who continues his suspension following his red card in the League Cup.
Walsall have some defensive problems surrounding their two James’. O’connor and Chambers are both big doubts with different injuries and an already thin squad will be tested to the full.
Obviously, these two sides didn’t meet in the League last season, however, they did the year before. The two games produced a pair of draws, one of those far more entertaining than the other.
At Huish Park a 0-0 draw was played out but in the reverse fixture the Glovers produced a fantastic comeback to snatch a point in a 2-2 draw.
Reuben Reid and a last gasp Sam Foley goal claimed a point when a defeat looked certain.
In terms of a pattern between the sides Yeovil lead the way and are undeafeted against Walsall since 2009. A run of three Yeovil wins and four draws.
The last Yeovil win was in 2012 when an Andy Williams brace secured all three points.
The last time Yeovil lost in this fixture was a 3-1 home defeat in 2009, Jon Obika netting for the Glovers.
This Tuesday will see the two sides aiming to get their campaign on the rise, a win for either team could lift them into the top half and appease any worrying supporters.
If anyone is thinking about making the journey, tickets are available on the day.
For anyone remaining in Somerset, Glovers Player will have the whole match live with the post match reaction covered in full on social media and on YouTube.
A reminder that the Glovers are back at home this coming Saturday as Scunthorpe United visit Huish Park. The return of a former Yeovil front man in Paddy Madden will add extra spice to the fixture and you can make sure of your place at the game in all of the usual ways.
Call in to the ticket office in person, call and speak to one of the team or use the online ticketing system here on YTFC.net and save a few quid in the process.
Let’s hope that by the time Saturday comes around we’ll be three points better off and in prime position for another positive result.
