Yeovil Town travel to Torquay United for our now annual Boxing Day (3pm) clash against the Seagulls.
After a tricky start to the season, both sides sit in the bottom half of the table, but just Torquay languish in the relegation zone.
Hungry to kick-start their seasons, both sides will be hungry for a victory at Plainmoor on Monday afternoon.
Mark Cooper’s thoughts
Speaking ahead of the fixture, the boss said; “I’ve watched a lot of their games, they gamble a lot of players forward and try and score at every opportunity.
“They take risks, they leave defenders 1v1 at the back. We need to defend really well, which we have done.
“It’s a team that can score lots of goals against a team that can defend really well.”
Team news
Owen Bevan, who was forced off with a head injury against Dorking, has trained since then, but Cooper was not able to confirm wether the Bournemouth loanee would be involved against Torquay.
On the suspension front, Yeovil have a full squad available.
Back-up goalkeeper Max Evans won’t be available after he signed a short-term loan with Bedford Town.
A foot in the opposition camp
It’s been a difficult season for Torquay this season, who have struggled to find any form so far.
Currently languishing in the relegation zone, Gary Johnson’s side could have been lifted with a valiant comeback last time out in the FA Trophy. From two goals down against Chippenham Town, the Gulls battled back for a 3-2 victory.
With just one league win in their last six games, Torquay will be aiming to sign off the year with a positive to kick start their 2023.
Have we met before?
Yeovil have endured mixed fortunes against the Gulls in recent years.
Last season, the Glovers lost both games between the two sides. Ten-man Town fell to a 3-0 defeat at Plainmoor before late heartbreak at Huish Park despite leading via a Jordan Barnett wonder strike.
The season prior, it was a win for both teams, with the Glovers striking late through Josh Neufville and Luke Wilkinson.
Our first season back in the National League saw Town do the double over Johnson’s side, with a 6-2 win at Huish Park and a 2-0 win at Plainmoor.
