Yeovil Town are back in SkyBet League Two action this coming Saturday when the Glovers travel to Leyton Orient for a 3pm kick off.

Darren Way’s spell in interim charge of the first team reaches its fourth game and after one win (1-0 v Stevenage), one defeat (3-2 v Oxford) and one draw (2-2 v Barnet) this Saturday’s match will set the tone for the busy Christmas period.

Last weekend saw Yeovil come from two goals down to snatch a point at Huish Park when two last gasp Francois Zoko goals gained Yeovil an unlikely draw.

Aaron McLean scored a brace of his own and looked liked he had won the full three points for the travelling Bees, but the Glovers never-say-die attitude, backed up by a vociferous home support saw the dramatic ending unfold.

Arguably, the performance merited the rewards and that was also the case against Stevenage the weekend before.

A late Ben Tozer goal was all that separated the sides, but the performance suggested that progress in the FA Cup was never in doubt. The prize for Yeovil was an away tie against Carlisle United.

Due to the current situation with flooding in Cumbria, the third round match will now be played at Blackpool’s Bloomfield Road. Stay tuned to YTFC.net for all the ticketing details once they are announced.

In his weekly press conference, Darren Way took the chance to confirm that the injured trio of Marc Laird, Kevin Dawson and Jack Compton are all edging closer to a return.

Compton and Dawson are on their own, specific rehab training programmes and could well be involved in full contact training with the rest of the squad by the new-year.

Simon Gillett is also on the road to the recovery but his return may be a little further in the distance.

In terms of the immediate team news, Coventry loanee George Thomas returned to the Sky Blues shortly before the Barnet game and has cut his spell short.

Leyton Orient go into the game on Saturday just a point outside of the play-off places in 9th position in the table.

They have had a resurgence in form since dropping into League Two, with Yeovil, last season.

Top scorer Jay Simpson has 15 league goals this term, 12 more than anyone else in the squad and Darren Way admitted they squad have been working to nullify his threat this weekend.

Orient had a midweek match to take care of this past Tuesday with the O’s drawing a stalemate against Scunthorpe in their FA Cup 2nd Round tie two weeks ago.

The replay, up at Glanford Park, ended in a 3-0 thrashing which secured the Iron a 3rd round match at Chelsea.

The O’s league form is at least consistent, three consecutive 1-1 draws have seen them stagnate a little bit in the group of sides just outside the play offs.

Whilst the focus may have been on the goalscoring prowess at one end, O’s manager has moved to strengthen at the back signing on QPR loan defender Cole Kpekawa for another month.

Darren Way takes his men to the Matchroom Stadium and the away fans could prove vital in building some pre-Christmas momentum.

Last time we met

With both sides dropping out of League One last season, the sides crossed paths twice.

In both games, Orient came out on top by a whopping 3-0 score line.

Only Nathan Smith and Josh Sheehan have survived from the starting line up in the last fixture – although Artur Krysiak was named among the substitutes for both games with loanee ‘Keepers Jed Steer and Scott Loach brought is as Number One.

The last time Yeovil won over the Orient was an FA Cup game the season before, the third round tie in the Championship season saw goals from Joel Grant, Kieffer Moore and James Hayter (2) secure progression with a thumping 4-0 win.
