Yeovil Town are back in SkyBet action this Saturday and it’s a trip to north Derbyshire with an away day at Chesterfield.
Chesterfield are currently sat in mid table in League One, in 11th place with 19 points to their name.
A seven point gap has opened up between the Spireites and the play-off spots with just six points separating them with Yeovil down in 22nd place.
The two sides have both been on poor runs of forms recently and so both will be hoping to turn things around and get their season off and running heading into the busy festive period.
Chesterfield have lost four of their last five with only a draw at home to Oldham to speak of in that run of games.
Defeats to Bristol City, Colchester, Walsall and Swindon have meant that they have dropped down the table steadily of the course of October.
However, the Swindon defeat this past Tuesday was the club’s second home defeat all season and their record at the Proact Stadium should not be underestimated.
Yeovil’s form needs little introduction to Glovers fans. Sitting 24th in the form table tells its own story.
The last six games have earned just one point for Gary Johnson’s men and a goal difference of -12 in that spell is worse than any other side in the division.
But it shouldn’t be forgotten that Yeovil have actually won more games on the road than at Huish Park this season with impressive victories over Bradford and Walsall already in the bag from their away days.
With Chesterfield playing in midweek due to previous postponements they will have had much less time to prepare for this weekend’s fixture.
It’s hoped that in terms of fitness and rest and recuperation the Yeovil squad will have the edge with their recovery and planning for this game starting way back on Sunday.
In terms of team news, Chesterfield are reporting that talismanic midfielder Gary Roberts is likely to miss out to allow injury full chance to recover.
However, they have signed Huddersfield midfielder Oscar Gobern on loan for a month, he will be the man most likely to fill the void left by Roberts.
At Huish Park, it’s a case of one out and one with a loan swap deal agreed with Coventry City this week.
Defender Aaron Martin has gone to the Sky Blues, where he has been on loan once before, while in the other direction is another defender, Jordan Clarke.
Clarke is 22 and capable of playing just about anywhere across the back four and joins on loan until the beginning of January.
Yeovil are also welcoming back Sam Hoskins from loan at Barnet. Hoskins scored a couple goals for the Conference league leaders during his short stint at the Hive.
He will be hoping to be involved in an attacking force struggling to find the net recently.
Whether or not Gary Johnson has changes in mind following defeat to Rochdale only he will know but one decision he will need to keep in mind surrounds the recovery of Nathan Ralph.
Ralph was replaced by Sam Foley in the first half last weekend and it remains to be seen if he has come back following that knock.
Yeovil have a pretty good record against Chesterfield and going back over the years, the Glovers have only lost once in their competitive history.
That loss was way back when the sides met for the first time back in 2005.
Since then, three wins and two draws firmly put the Glovers in the driving seat for the head to head form.
The sides last met during the 2011/12 season and the games saw a combined total of nine goals, a 2-2 draw at the Proact stadium and a 3-2 Yeovil win at Huish Park.
Late goals from Nathan Jones and Marcus Stewart are the headlines from meetings prior to that season and Arron Davies took home the match ball from a 3-0 win back in 2006.
The form between the two sides is in Yeovil’s favour, the away days have been more successful than home games this season and Chesterfield are starting to wobble.
