Yeovil Town host Charlton Athletic on Saturday afternoon as the Glovers look to keep up the momentum from a par of highly impressive wins over Watford and Blackpool.
Having beaten two high flying promotion chasers attention now turns to an opposition much closer to Yeovil in the league table, Charlton lie just one place above their hosts in 21st place.
Just a two point gap seperates the sides, but possibly more importantly, a win for either side could see them leap away from the relegation zone.
The Addicks are coming off the back of a pair of 1-0 defeats; on Tuesday Reading continued their good home form with a Billy Sharp winner, while last Saturday, Ipswich Town went to London at talk all three points.
Chris Powell’s side did notch up an impressive 2-0 win over Doncaster prior to that, however and, like Yeovil, only succumbed 1-0 to big spending QPR.
This game does throw up an interesting statistic, the last time Yeovil lost at home on a Saturday was way back in September, QPR the victors in a 1-0 win. Yeovil have had a mixture of good results on their own patch and a few fixture changes as well.
On the injury front, Yeovil’s captain Jamie McCallister made a surprise appearance on the substitute’s bench on Tuesday, his shoulder problem has eased up and the skipper is now available once more for selection.
Former Charlton player, Dan Seaborne is unavailable, he remains on loan at Coventry, the defender played 90 minutes on his debut for the Sky Blue and they are in FA Cup action this weekend.
Gary Johnson will have the difficult choice of finding a loanee to leave out of the match day squad. Joe Ralls and Liam Fontaine have both missed one fixture as only five are allowed in the final 18. Elsewhere it’s a tale of the two injured goalkeepers. Marek Stech for Yeovil has hoped to be available again before Christmas, but this game will still be too soon, while for the opposition, Somerset born Ben Hamer looks likely to miss out.
For Yeovil, Chris Dunn will be hoping to keep up his excellent run of form as he continues to deputise for Stech and for Charlton, former Spurs keeper Ben Alnwick will keep his place in the side. Charlton recalled their third choice stopper, Nick Pope, from a loan spell at York City to act as back up.
Charlton will have a couple of familiar faces in their traveling party, ‘Keeper coach Ben Roberts played and coached at Yeovil while Simon Church and Jordan Cook have both spent loan spells at Huish Park.
They also have former Manchester United winger Cameron Stewart in their ranks, once on loan at Yeovil, he is now at the Valley on a temporary deal from Hull City.
This game features as part of the “Save £5 Deal” the Glovers are running using their online ticket purchasing system.
You can see the details on YTFC.net for this and the forthcoming fixtures that apply to this great offer. You could save up to £5 on the price of a match day ticket, when purchased online in advance.
