After back-to-back wins in the league the Glovers will be looking to make it three wins in a row when they head to the Abbey Stadium. 

Strikes from Otis Khan, Darren Ward, Matty Dolan and Tom Eaves helped Town secure a 4-2 win against Gary Johnson’s Cheltenham Town on Saturday, building on the 1-0 win away to Leyton Orient the week previous. 

Six points from two matches has boosted Darren Way’s side to 19th in the table, four points ahead of Tuesday’s opponents who picked up their first League Two win of the season on Saturday. 

Shaun Derry’s outfit saw off fellow strugglers Newport County 2-1 at Rodney Parade, with Uche Ikpeazu and Luke Berry on target for the U’s after previously drawing on three occasions and losing five times. 

Under the tenure of Derry, United made a late charge for the play-offs last season eventually finishing in ninth, seven points adrift of seventh place. 

However, Cambridge haven’t enjoyed the same vein of form so far this season with their only previous wins before Saturday coming in Round One of the EFL Cup (2-1 against Sheffield Wednesday) and in the opening fixture of the Checkatrade Trophy (1-0 against Shrewsbury Town). 

The Glovers come in to Tuesday’s fixture having won five of the seven competitive fixtures between the two sides. 

Yeovil first met the U’s in the 1987 FA Cup Second Round tie, coming away from Cambridgeshire with a 1-0 win. 

In fact, Town won the following four fixtures between the two sides which all came in League Two, most notably recording wins both home and away during the 2003/04 season.

The Green and Whites claimed a 4-1 win at the Abbey Stadium thanks to goals from Jake Edwards (x2), Kevin Gall and Darren Way, before repeating the scoreline at Huish Park later in the season with Gavin Williams, Andy Bishop, Adam Stansfield and Colin Miles on target.

United have however won the last two meetings between the two teams which came last season. 

The U’s stormed into a 3-0 lead at Huish Park thanks to Rory Gaffney (x2) and Luke Berry before Ryan Bird and Josh Sheehan reduced the deficit to 3-2, but Derry’s side were 3-0 winners at home thanks to Ben Williamson (x2) and Jimmy Spencer after Everton loanee Liam Walsh received a straight red card for Town just 16 minutes into the match.

Mark Haywood (Yorkshire) will take charge of Tuesday’s match for his sixth fixture of the season. 

Mr Haywood took charge of Swindon’s 2-0 win at Oldham Athletic at the weekend, awarding four yellow cards in the process. 

The referee’s most notable fixture this season came in League One when he took charge of Bury 2-1 Shrewsbury Town, awarding six yellow cards and two red – Bury’s James Vaughan and Shrewsbury’s Adam El-Abd both received their marching orders after picking up two yellow cards each. 

Mr Haywood officiated just one Yeovil match last season, sending off Portsmouth’s Christian Burgess in the 1-1 draw at Huish Park for a second yellow, with Town’s Ben Tozer the only other player to go into the book. 

Mr Haywood will be supported by Graham Kane (East Sussex) and George Warren (London) with Robert Massey-Ellis (West Midlands) taking on the role of fourth official.
