The Glovers made the 660-mile roundtrip to Cumbria for the Sky Bet League Two match looking to return to winning ways but came away with a narrow 2-1 loss.
After trailing 2-0 at the break despite some good play, Town had Keith Curle’s side on the ropes for large spells after Nathan Smith got one back three minutes after the restart.
Post-match, Way felt his side deserved at least a share of the spoils.
Speaking to YTFC’s official YouTube channel, he said: “I think everyone who would’ve watched the game today would’ve wondered how we didn’t win or get a point out of that game.
“I keep saying it, but every game we’ve lost so far has been a little bit unfortunate but we were a lot closer this time to what we were against Plymouth and Doncaster with teams in the top three.”
Trailing 2-0 at half-time, Way admits he exchanged one or two choice words with his squad, but was pleased with their reaction in the second period.
“Unfortunately, there were one or two instances where we didn’t make the right decision and we found ourselves 2-0 down completely against the run of play.
“But the group are still performing very well and I have to draw strength from that.
“I think we had a few mixed words in the dressing room at half-time.
“There were one or two individuals I spoke to a little bit differently than in my year in management but they accepted that responsibility.
“It was an unbelievable performance as far as the amount of force that they applied from start to finish against a good team.”
