Yeovil Town’s Supporter Alliance Group is backing the club’s drive to #packthepark as the Glovers look to push on during the key run in to the end of the season.
Although attendances have noticeably risen since the club ownership changed in late September, the club and Alliance are urging fans to back the team in greater numbers at Huish Park, in what is the most successful season on the pitch since the 2012/13 season.
Speaking on behalf of the Supporters Alliance, Alliance Chairman, Rich Rendell said “The new owners have invested by bringing more experienced players into the team as shown by the signings of Jimmy Smith, Chris Dagnall and Marc Richards to give us an even stronger squad.
“Many fans have stayed away from Huish Park over the last few seasons for various reasons, but we now have proactive owners who are making things better not only on the pitch but off it too. For example, we now have access to the Alec Stock bar which we have wanted for years and tea bar operations have been improved thanks in large part to involvement of Pat Custard.
“On the pitch we now clearly have an excellent manager and squad so now is definitely the time to back the lads and I encourage all fans to return to Huish Park and cheer the lads on as they looks to get us back to the EFL at the first attempt”.
February will see four home games at Huish Park and key member groups of the Alliance will be helping drive attendance by distributing flyers at key locations and points around the area, whilst the club itself will be increasing its own match promotion activity.
Commenting on the campaign to #packthepark, Club Chairman Scott Priestnall urged fans not underestimate the influence they have on such matters when he said; “We are already putting money into the club, so for the playing squad to expand further, it does depend on increased home attendances.
“When we have seen big attendances this has directly resulted in players signing after – Chris Dagnall after the Bromley game and Marc Richards after the Boxing Day game and we want to be able to do this again but need to see gates of 3,500 for games, whereas at the moment we average just under 3,000.
“We all want Darren and the team to have the best possible run in, so I am asking all Glovers fans to pack the park, starting with our game with Chorley on 1 February – we need you!”
