The AFC Bournemouth loanee netted Town’s opener with a sweetly struck strike and volleyed home the Glovers’ third of the afternoon following Olufela Olomola’s seventh goal this term.
Three days earlier against Chelsea Under-21s, the 19-year-old forward thought he had scored but his header clipped Rhys Browne on the way in so he was happy to be on target for certain on two occasions.
“I’m buzzing,” Surridge told iFollow Glovers.
“I’ve been racking up the assists and I’ll take them but I’m happy to score and more importantly get three points!
“I was ready because I’ve been training hard and I was confident if I got chances I’d score. I took confidence from my performance on Wednesday and it paid off.
“The first few minutes we were all running about a bit and knew it was going to be a hard day, but as soon as I struck (the first) I knew it was going in and I was happy, and relieved, to get the first goal and then the second.”
Surridge could have taken home the match ball but for a heavy touch just before the break.
“I should have got my hat-trick!” he said.
“I was running round so much, I was so surprised I got it so soon after my second goal. My touch should have been better and if it was then it would have set me up.
“However it was a great result and I got two so I’m happy.”
